Vung Bau Beach

Along a scenic route, that connects Ganh Dau and Cua Can, you pass Vung Bau Beach. There are almost no people and no guards. It is a beautiful getaway from the tourist areas.

Follow the street from Duong Dong to Cua Can. North of Ong Lang Beach you pass Hoang Yen Resort, cross a bridge and turn left. Follow the street and you will find a picturesque fishing village, Le Bat.

From there follow the scenic route, that takes you through the forest and past Mũi Ông Quới, which translates into the “Nose of Mr. Quoi”.

After that, the dirt road follows Vung Bau Beach.

The southern part of the beach is largely abandoned. You see a couple nice rock formations next to the “Nose” and collectors can find lots of nice, tropical shells and coral fragments that are washed ashore. The sand is powdery and nearly white.

Of course the beach is not completely free of trash, but considering the fact that it’s not patrolled, it’s pretty nice. There are also trees above the waterline that provide a decent shadow. If you want to spend some time here, mind that there are no shops around, so bring some water.

Further to north, a bridge crosses a creek that ends in a beautiful lagoon. After that bridge, the area gets more populated with resorts again. Mũi Móng Tay is a scenic photo location as well and marks the northern end of Vung Bau Beach.

Hon Móng Tay, Fingernail Island, is a popular destination for scuba diving.
